Getting Started: The Role of EOI and Points Score
Before you can apply for the Subclass 189 visa, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect. To be eligible, you must score at least 65 points, based on the following criteria:
- Age
- Educational qualifications (Diploma, Degree, or PhD)
- English language proficiency
- Skilled work experience
- Marital status and partner’s qualifications
- NAATI accreditation
- Completion of a Professional Year Program

Visa Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189), applicants must:
- Be under 45 years of age
