Who Is Eligible for Subclass 476?

To apply for this visa, applicants must:

  • Be 31 years old or younger

  • Have completed an engineering qualification within the last 24 months

  • Not previously held a Subclass 476 or Subclass 485 visa (unless as a dependent)

  • Meet required health and character standards

Accepted Engineering Qualifications

You must hold one of the following degrees in a specified engineering field:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Master’s Degree

  • Doctorate (PhD)

  • Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate

English Language Proficiency

You must meet one of the following English test criteria:

  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 50 with at least 36 in each section

  • IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with at least 5.0 in each band

  • Equivalent scores in TOEFL iBT, OET, or Cambridge CAE are also accepted

Health Examination Requirements

Health checks are mandatory and based on:

  • Your intended stay and activities in Australia

  • Countries you have resided in over the past 5 years

  • Results are valid for 12 months

This applies to both primary applicants and accompanying family members, whether they plan to migrate or not.

Character Requirements

You must provide police clearance certificates from every country where you’ve lived for 12 months or more in the past 10 years, starting from age 16. These must confirm you have no significant criminal record.

Including Family Members

You may include the following family members in your application:

  • Spouse or de facto partner

  • Your or your partner’s child or stepchild

All supporting documents must be provided to confirm the relationship.
