How does UK work experience affect GSM visa points?

I have several years of work experience in the UK and I’m planning to apply for the GSM visa. I’m unsure how Australian immigration will evaluate my foreign work experience and how many points I might get. I also want to know if my UK experience is treated differently from Australian experience.

Can UK citizens apply for GSM visa without sponsorship?

I’m a UK citizen interested in migrating to Australia under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program. I don’t currently have an Australian employer offering sponsorship and I’m confused if that will prevent me from applying. I want to know if I can submit an application independently and still be considered eligible.
